National Manufacturing Day is Friday October 6th!

Here at Base Construction, we’re eager to support National Manufacturing Day and its initiatives. This year, the event takes place on October 6th at industrial locations across the country. National Manufacturing Day was started back in 2012 as a way to spread knowledge about modern-day manufacturing, end industry misconceptions, and banquet its successes.

Educators, students, public, businessmen, politicians, and the media alike are invited to various facilities countrywide in an effort to change the perceptions of manufacturing. Many still envision the field as factory floor work, but today technology, STEM, secure job placement, strong benefits, and contributions to a growing economy are at the forefront of the sector.

This year the number of attendees has grown to over 2,100. When Manufacturing Day first started that number was a mere 240. With initiatives like re-shoring, focusing on STEM education, and bridging the skills gap, National Manufacturing Day and the manufacturing industry will continue to grow and prosper.

After participating in National Manufacturing Day events, students are polled about their experience. Surveys reveal that 89% of students see potential future opportunities in the field. 84% become more convinced that manufacturing careers are not only rewarding but also interesting. And 64% are motivated to pursue a career in manufacturing fields. These numbers are telling, in that future generations only need to be shown the many possible career choices available in front of them.
